Chris Moyles

In 2006 Featherstone Rovers approached Chris Moyles from Radio 1 to ask if he would be willing for them to rename their ground at Post Office Road after him. Chris readily agreed and the ground was christened as The Chris Moyles Stadium in November 2006.

Cynics at the time saw this as an out and out publicity stunt. They were right of course; but this did not stop Chris soon becoming involved with the club and attending matches when he was back in the north of England. It also opened a new field of interest for the rest of his family, some of whom became regular attendees, leading to Jim Moyles, Chris' uncle, taking on the role of Commercial Manager.

Chris, through his morning radio show, has managed to keep the world at large acquainted with Featherstone's successes and some people feel that these news snippets have contributed in no small way to the continued growth in Radio 1 listeners.
